UTMB Galveston Face - Ewing Hall
Galveston, TX is a festive, historical town and is definitely home to more than one ghost. While most ghosts are seen by only one or two witnesses and only for moments, this ghost is unique because of the fact that anyone can see it, anytime!
This ghost is called the "old bearded man" by most. To find it, go to the Ewing Hall building of the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. Along the east side of the building, you'll see that it's made up of huge tiles. On the right side you'll notice a face made in dark shadows.
It's interesting because it's clearly a face. The maintenance crews have tried to scrub it off, tried to sandblast it off, etc but nothing works. The face keeps on coming back. In fact, one time the maintenance crew scrubbed a tile so hard that they basically destroyed it... and the face came back on a different tile!
Also note that when I say "tile" I mean something that's several feet wide, not a small tile. The face is huge.
The prevailing theory is that it's the ghost of Jean Lafitte, who was known to have sailed these waters, and he's still staring out to sea for some unknown reason.
Another theory is that the face belongs to the man who used to own the land that UTMB occupies.
The face isn't easy to see because it sits right on the water. In fact, supposedly people have died while trying to view it, which adds an interesting, sinister twist to the tale.
